Who will I talk to if I call?

Our Quit Coaches are trained to be understanding, supportive, and judgement free, because they know how hard it is to quit. In addition to completing a comprehensive training in tobacco cessation, our Quit Coaches are in the know of all the latest ways to help you successfully quit tobacco. Calling the Quitline gives you access to one-on-one counselling with one of our trained Quit Coaches. They’re understanding, supportive, and judgement-free.

Will my call be kept confidential?

Your information is 100% confidential. We comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to ensure your privacy.

What kind of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (nicotine patches/gum/lozenges) will the Hawaiʻi Tobacco Quitline provide?

The Hawaiʻi Tobacco Quitline offers FREE nicotine replacement therapy (patches/gum/lozenges) to those who need assistance quitting, regardless of insurance. If you call 1-800-QUIT-NOW, you can receive 2 weeks of nicotine replacement therapy if you have private insurance, 4 weeks if you have MedQuest, or 8 weeks if you have no insurance. Everyone who uses the online program, can receive up to 2 weeks of free nicotine replacement therapy.

How long will it take to receive my patches/gum/lozenges?

You will receive your FREE patches, gum, or lozenges approximately 2 weeks from the point you request them. So if you are planning to quit after two weeks, you may receive the FREE patches, gum, or lozenges right before your quit time.

Do I get any materials as part of the program?

Yes, if you enroll in the Hawai‘i Tobacco Quitline, you will receive a Quit Guide relevant to where you are in the quitting process as a pdf or in the mail. The Quit Guide is full of information to help you get ready to quit, quit successfully and stay quit for good. It includes information on:
- Making the decision to quit
- How to get ready to quit
- Knowing what to expect while you’re quitting
- How to cope with withdrawal symptoms and stress
- How to ask friends, family and co-workers for support

Can I call if my partner, friend, or relative wants to quit?

Yes. Our Quit Coaches are happy to share ways that you can support your friend or family member as they become tobacco-free.
